Kings Lynn –  Sludge Treatment Centre

Bloom & Wake conducted a full inspection of the existing re-circulation pumps at the Sludge Treatment Centre in Kings Lynn. The existing pump was replaced to produce additional flow through the Monsal Plant Heat Exchangers.

This resulted in the reduced usage of heating oil and electricity required to run the treatment centre resulting in a significant cost saving for Anglian Water.

In addition, the pumps would also achieve an increased life span of 6-8 months before they would need to be re-furbished.

South Woodham Ferrers – Waste Water Recycling Centre

A trial scheme was introduced at the Waste Water Recycling Centre in South Woodham Ferrers to see if aborted loads could be reduced due to thick sludge being present.

The trial scheme was to assist road haulage companies to remove sludge from sites, as many loads where being aborted due to thick sludge.

A trial temporary compressor was installed to agitate the sludge to prevent the thick sludge from forming.

The trial compressor showed good performance. Anglian Water commissioned Bloom & Wake to implement the compressor system. During the design process, it was recommended by the Bloom & Wake management team that the design of the compressor include additional timed air lancers to cover the whole of the sludge tanks.

The project was successful and the centre now have minimal aborted loads, which effectively has saved money.

Lakenham – Firetrace

Bloom & Wake were commissioned to supply and install a Firetrace automatic generator fire suppression system at Anglian Water’s Lakenham site.

The Firetrace Panel System was installed on the chlorine control, generator control, Main MCC, inverter pump 1 and inverter pump 3 panels.

The project also included the design, build and commissioning of a control panel to shutdown the generator in the event of the Firetrace system being activated.

A telemetry measurement system was also installed for each generator system (3 signals per system, 7 bar pressure healthy and low/discharged Firetrace override).

A multi-system panel with system healthy lamps was also installed in an area that could be visible close to the entrance to the building.
