Bloom & Wake were appointed as electrical contractors by the National Trust to complete a project at Ickworth House in Suffolk.

The project involved the restoration of the kitchen and servants’ area within the Rotunda building. The work involved additional complexity because it needed to resemble the original systems, that were fitted more than 70 years ago, and be in keeping with the age of the building.

Once the design was approved, Bloom & Wake completed the installation and testing of a number of services including an artificial lighting system with associated controls, a new low voltage cabling system and emergency lighting.

Due to the nature of the building, the works were being completed in very restricted areas with low ceiling heights and limited access. Great care had to be taken to ensure no damage was done to the building during the installation.

In addition, security and fire detection systems were installed together with new facilities for the disabled. Finally, a surge protection system was fitted to protect the building and the electrical units within.
